Advanced Card Technologies LLC (ACT) owns two patents and pending patent applications related generally to transaction cards, such as gift cards, phone cards, credit cards, and loyalty cards. The patents cover transaction cards that include a magnetic stripe. The transaction cards are attached to a carrier and can be separated from the carrier (referred to as a breakaway transaction card).

There are several licensees under the ACT patents, including three of the largest card companies in the world.
